Someone said that there are four foundations upon which to base your life. You could base your life on:
Education
Religion
Experience
The Word of God
The born-again, Holy Spirit-indwelt Christian will desire to base his or her life SOLELY on the Word of God. They accept, affirm, and embrace it as the Final Authority.
Christian, it is assumed that this is your desire. That is the assumption of your pastor and church if you are in a Bible-believing New Testament church!
The truth is that CONSCIENCE, COMPANIONS, and COUNSELORS can all lead you astray. But, the BIBLE WILL NEVER LEAD YOU ASTRAY.
Conscience can lead you astray. It can be affected by ENVIRONMENT, UPBRINGING, and SIN. Tim McVeigh’s conscience did not rebuke his heinous crime. The Bible warns that “There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand” (Proverbs 19:21).
Companions are often as CONFUSED as you are.
Counsel is good only if it is BIBLICAL.
You must line up everything with the Bible.
The trouble is that not many are obeying the command “Study to shew thyself approved unto God . . .”
Furthermore, they are not PRESENT, PREPARED, or PERSUADED by those whom God has sent to teach them and to equip them to become mature students of the Bible.
In the year 2002 within the space of a few weeks I met three “former Baptists” who are now involved in false religion! One is B’hai, one a Mormon, and the other a Jehovah’s (False) Witness. They either were not taught sound doctrine or they were taught it and did not accept and embrace it.
YOU’D BETTER PAY ATTENTION, BIBLE-BELIEVING BAPTIST! IT IS TIME TO GROW UP IN THE WORD SO THAT YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS WORLD!
